Flames of Fire
Little Children in the Divine Will

Flames of Fire

Jesus, I fuse myself in Your Divine Will.
I come to love You in the virtues and suffering of Saint Joan of Arc.

I love You in her lonely prison,
Where iron chains restrained her feet.
I praise You through her sleepless nights,
Where hostile guards disturbed her peace.

I bless You when they threatened violence,
And she had nowhere safe to hide.
I honor You in her purity,
Dressing in men’s clothing to protect herself from harm.

I love You when she lay there sick,
And begged to have Communion brought.
I praise You in her longing for You,
While cruel judges answered not.

I bless You when her king was absent,
And no one came to set her free.
I honor You in her unwavering trust,
When earthly help was not to be.

Flames of fire, flames of fire,
Her greatest fear was fire.
Yet for You she surrendered.

I love You, Jesus, in her blazing love,
Brighter than the fire that burned her.
I love You, Jesus, in her pain and heroic trust,
In every trial.

Together with her, I say,
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,”
And die with her amid the flames.

I love You when they called her guilty,
Condemned to burn before the crowd.
I praise You when she begged for mercy,
Her cries unanswered by the proud.

I bless You when she faced the sentence,
The death by fire she feared the most.
I honor You in her surrender;
When all was lost, she held You close.

I love You as Joan stood alone,
Bound to the stake in Rouen’s square.
I praise You when she asked for Jesus
And begged to see His Cross held there.

I bless You as the flames rose higher,
As smoke and fire concealed her face.
I honor You in her final moments,
Still calling Jesus in that place.

I love You in her heart remembered,
Which flames were said to leave untouched.
They cast her ashes in the river,
Yet could not silence all her love.

I praise You in her final witness,
Her faith enduring to the end.
I bless You in her love for Jesus,
Her Savior, Lord, and faithful Friend.

I praise You as her soul takes flight.
I adore You as she joins the angels
And the saints in Heaven,
Where they celebrate her victory.

With You forever, she finds her freedom,
And is forever blessed.
