Jesus, I fuse myself in Your Most Holy Divine Will,
And come to love You in the faith of four men.

Verse 1

Four men carry their suffering friend,
Through crowded streets beneath the sun.
Their arms grow weary, but they press on,
For they believe that You can heal him.

I love You in their faithful footsteps,
I bless You in the weight they bear.
I praise You in their loving friendship,
And thank You for their tender care.

They reach the house where You are teaching,
But crowds are gathered at the door.
They cannot find a way to enter;
There’s hardly room for even one more!

They look above and see the rooftop,
And suddenly they have a plan!
I praise You for their holy wisdom,
And bless the courage of these men!

They climb above the crowded house,
And tear an opening overhead.
The dust falls through the ceiling,
As they lower down their friend’s bed.

The people gasp and turn their heads;
A man descends before their eyes!
I love You in their daring faith,
And praise You in the crowd’s surprise!

When faithful hearts make room for grace,

Their friend lies waiting at Your feet;
Four faithful hearts look down from high.
They’ve brought him all the way to You,

The crowd looks up and sees the roof,
But Jesus looks and sees their faith!

And praise the joy their faith must bring!

“Son, thy sins are forgiven thee,”
Your words of mercy fill the room.
The scribes begin to question You,
But You perceive their hidden thoughts.

I praise You in Your perfect wisdom,
I bless You in Your healing power.
“Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house!”
You speak, and everything is changed!

He moves his limbs and rises up,
And stands before their wondering eyes!
The man who once was carried in
Now takes his bed and walks outside!

I love You in his every movement,
I praise You in his strength restored.
I join the wonder of the people,
And glorify Your Name, O Lord!
